Join a guide for a unique walk through Kraków’s Old Town – the oldest part of the city, considered for centuries the cultural heart of Poland

Surrounded by the green ring of the Planty Park, this area is full of amazing stories and legends. Thanks to its well-preserved medieval urban layout, Kraków’s historic center was one of the first sites in the world to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Walk the Royal Route – Feel Kraków’s History

We begin our tour near the Planty, close to the Barbican and the medieval defensive walls that once protected the city’s entrance. Nearby begins the Royal Route – the ceremonial path once used by Polish kings to reach the cathedral and Wawel Castle.

We pass through the Florian Gate, visit the Czartoryski Museum, home to one of Poland’s most treasured artworks: “Lady with an Ermine” by Leonardo da Vinci. We enter the Main Market Square, where you can feel the pulse of the city. We explore the history of the Cloth Hall, admire the grandeur of the Gothic St. Mary’s Basilica, and hear legends that have lived in the corners of the square for centuries: the trumpet call from the tower, the tale of two brothers, and the knife that served as a warning to wrongdoers.

From the square, we head to the Collegium Maius, the oldest part of the Jagiellonian University, and the University District. Passing the Bishop’s Palace, we make our way to Wawel Hill.

Guided Tour of Wawel – Royal History and the Spirit of the Past

Our journey leads us to Wawel Hill, a truly special place and the center of Polish history. Here stand some of the oldest and most important buildings in the country. Walking through the Arcaded Courtyard, we view the Royal Castle from the outside – the former residence of Polish monarchs – and admire the domes of Wawel Cathedral, a thousand-year-old coronation church where kings, heroes, and great artists are buried.

To conclude, we recall one of Kraków’s most famous legends: the tale of the Wawel Dragon, who still watches over the foot of the hill, reminding us that in Kraków, history is around every corner.
