Kazimierz is a district with a truly unique character. It’s a place where Christian and Jewish cultures coexisted for centuries.

Before the war, one in four Kraków residents was Jewish, and Kazimierz alone had over 90 synagogues and prayer houses. Many of them survived the destruction of war and can still be admired today.

During a guided tour of Kazimierz, we’ll uncover traces of its rich, multicultural past, which, despite the tragic events of the 20th century, still lives on here.

Kazimierz moves, inspires, and stays with you. Why visit it with a guide? To better understand the story of tragedy, survival, memory, and the modern revival of Jewish culture in Kraków.

We’ll not only see preserved synagogues, but also step into atmospheric courtyards and walk through narrow streets, where the spirit of the past still lingers. We’ll learn about Jewish customs, symbolism, and stories – the very things that shape our understanding of a world the Nazis tried so hard to destroy.

The walk ends across the Vistula River, in the former district of Podgórze, on the site of the former ghetto, where the history of Kraków’s Jews takes its darkest turn. There we’ll see the Ghetto Heroes Square, the former “Under the Eagle” pharmacy, and fragments of the wall that once separated people solely because of their origin.
